Insane footage circulating on social media today shows the dramatic escalation of tensions between Philippines and China near the Second Thomas Shoal. According to reports, the Chinese Coast Guard violently attached ropes to tow the AFP's RHIBs while threatening to injure an AFP soldier with a pickaxe. In the footage, the Chinese Coast Guardsmen, who are about 600 miles away from China's nearest coast, can be seen blaring sirens, flashing lights, and wielding multiple melee style weapons to harass and attack AFP troops who are operating inside of their exclusive economic zone.
