Chinese Coast Guard Causes 4 Injuries on Filipino Vessel

Footage released by a crew member of a Filipino Coast Guard ship captures the moment a water cannon is blasted into the bridge by a Chinese Coast Guard vessel. According to reports, at least four of the Filipino crew members were injured in the incident, further escalating tensions between the Philippines and China.

On top of this water cannon blast that injured four people, Chinese vessels also executed dangerous maneuvers that caused two minor collisions between the Chinese ships and two of the Filipino vessels. The dispute itself is over the international waters surrounding the Second Thomas Shoal, also known as Ayungin Shoal, Bãi Cỏ Mây and Rén'ài Jiāo, which is just 105 miles west of Palawan, Philippines.
