After a week of violating Taiwanese airspace and posturing in a threatening manner, China's fearless leader has vowed to reunify Taiwan with the rest of China.
In a speech at Beijing's Great Hall of the People, China's President Xi Jinping has vowed to take control of Taiwan. stating "Taiwan's independence is the greatest obstacle to national reunification and a serious hidden danger to national rejuvenation." This statement comes just one day after a week of Beijing dispatching over 150 military flights into the Taiwanese Air Defense Zone.
While this could just be more sabre rattling from Beijing, it is likely that China sees the United States in its current state and thinks now would be a good time to strike. Xi Jinping has not openly stated that China is willing to use force to seize control of Taiwan and force the reunification effort, but their actions over the past week speak volumes on their intent to start a shooting war, as Taiwan has already stated that they will defend their sovereignty with force.
This doesn't need to be stated, but Chinese military movement into Taiwan could be the match that sparks off a very serious international conflict between a multitude of first world countries who are both morally and contractually obligated to assist Taiwan if China makes a move on the island nation. I don't think an apology from John Cena will be enough to stop this one from cooking off should China decide to make a move.
