Chaotic Basement Firefight Between IDF and Hamas

GoPro and drone video released by the Israeli Defense Force shows an afternoon firefight between members of the IDF and Hamas that took place in a Khan Yunis basement. According to the IDF, this footage is the conclusion of an 8 hour gun battle with the Hamas militants who were holed up in the basement.

The IDF unit responsible for taking down the barricaded militants were the Maglan Commandos. For hours they attempted to break the barricade with FPV drone strikes and hand grenades. Realizing that an airstrike would be unlikely to get approved in the area they were in, the IDF troops initially pulled back and established a cordon to prevent the Hamas fighters from escaping.

After several hours of short skirmishes with the enemy fighters, they rolled a wheelbarrow full of breaching charges up to the exposed basement wall and blew it up, penetrating the wall in six places. They then flew a drone inside of the building and confirmed that the Hamas fighters inside were no longer a threat, but the fighter had survived and continued to put up resistance.

Several more breaching charges were employed, along with a few salvos of hand grenades and automatic rifle fire. They they confirmed the death of the Hamas fighter by sending in one of the Oketz working dogs after they saw that the gunman was down.
