Multiple video clips out of Afghanistan demonstrate the chaos currently unfolding at Kabul International Airport as the US and other Western ISAF entities attempt to rapidly evacuate the country that has just fallen to the Taliban.
The footage starts with a scene being recorded from behind the ramp of a C-17 Globemaster as a disorderly mob forces themselves aboard. Meanwhile those not not near the ramp are littered across the tarmac, an absolute risk to flight safety.
The footage then transitions to a line of US troops, likely paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne, standing in front of a column of mine resistant ambush protected (MRAP) vehicles. The US service members are keeping the desperate crowd from charging the airfield while the priority passengers are boarded behind them. The MRAP vehicles will likely be abandoned to the Taliban.
The last segment of the video shows swarms of frantic civilians charging the main gate of the airport. They are holding their children and whatever personal belongings they can carry in hopes of getting on a flight out of Afghanistan. Automatic rifle fire can be heard, likely security personnel trying to disperse the crowds. However, the group is able to overwhelm gate security and flood into the airport complex.
