Chalk Another One Up For The Javelin

Chalk Another One Up For The Javelin

This footage, provided by the Ukrainian military, shows a soldier firing a Javelin ATGM at a distant Russian vehicle. Although the target itself is obscure in the distance, the impact of the missile is visible.

The FGM-148 Javelin continues to serve as an effective ATGM (Anti-Tank Guided Missile) platform in the Russo-Ukrainian war, but it is also an iconic symbol of America's support of Ukraine, much like the Bradley IFV. The combination of the Javelin's combat efficacy ( with 100 of the first 112 sent hitting their targets) and the morale boost provided by the FGM-148s just being there led to memes and imagery of "Saint Javelin" being commonplace during the early war, both in Ukraine and among international supporters.
