Footage has surfaced as evidence of unconfirmed reports that a Mexican military plane was hit by cartel gunfire and was forced to make an emergency landing. According to the reports, an Airbus C295 belonging to either the Mexican Air Force or Navy sustained significant mechanical damage from Sinaloa Cartel gunfire while operating over Culiacan. The aircraft made a rapid emergency landing as the aircraft caught fire. Airport firefighters responded to extinguish the flames.
The Mexican city of Culiacan was engulfed in violence and gun battles between cartel members and security forces following the arrest of Video Guzman, the son of imprisoned Sinaloa Cartel boss "El Chapo."
