Canadian Forces Practical RPG Diversion System, Big Brain Creations

Footage from a Canadian soldiers 2008 Afghanistan deployment, shows an innovative, clever solution he and his fellow comrades created to help redirect Taliban RPG's from hitting their tower.

In a small description provided by the solider, this video was not posted to the internet until 2011, well after the combat outpost was taken down. He also described that prior to this video being taken, the Taliban were getting as close as 50m from their hesco barriers.

As a result, Canadian engineers were brought in to destroy any structures within 300-400 meters surrounding the outpost, creating a vast "no man's land" between the Taliban. Despite the large space, the outpost still engaged in daily firefights and were being struck by Taliban RPG fire often.

Being forced out nearly 300-400 meters, this diversion masterpiece likely worked against the Taliban. Even from the close up footage provided, its a pretty solid design that depicts a .50 cal machine gun fairly well. Can only imagine what it looks like from a distance.

Well done Canada, well done.
