Bullet Proof Glass Saves Soldier's Life

A video filmed in Iraq captures the moment an insurgent sniper splatters the bullet proof glass directly in front of a Stryker dismount's face. An all out firefight breaks out afterwards.

This is one of those videos where we don't have a ton of context. Every once in a while, we'll find something that just has nothing attached to it, and we really can't add a lot to the footage other than by sharing the footage with you guys. Situations like this is when we heavily lean on the comments section to help us out, as we're only five veterans with a very limited range of differing experiences.

When I found this, I actually had to take the video to Will, one of our other writers, and ask him if he recognized the vehicle profile from the inside. I have zero in-person experience with the Stryker, and didn't recognize the hatch. According to Will, there's four hatches on the top of a striker. The front left is for the vehicle commander, the front right is for the gunner, and the rear hatches are for additional shooters. Will had never seen a Stryker with armored glass in the back like this one, but as demonstrated by this video it was clearly a good addition. because it probably saved the cameraman's life.

If you have any more context you can add to this video, because maybe you were present for this event, please let us know down in the comments section. We'd love to hear the full story from someone who was there.
