On July 7, 2021 Officer Ronald Kennedy of the NYPD was dispatched to 290 Lenox Avenue in reports of a male subject being stabbed in the chest.
Upon arriving at the scene, Officer Kennedy began evaluating the victim and knew he needed to act fast. As seen in the footage, the victim has already lost a significant amount of blood. With his quick innovative thinking, officer Kennedy request a by-stander to retrieve him a bag of chips and tape from the store.
Once both items requested were acquired, officer Kennedy wasted no time. He dumped out the contents of the bag, placed the flattened bag over the sunken chest wound, and began taping all four sides. This created a temporary dressing until medical aid arrived on the scene.
Reports have stated due to officer Kennedy's on the spot thinking, the victim would have succumbed to his wounds far before reaching the hospital. Lets all give a round of applause to officer Kennedy. Let us know in the comments below your military or first responder experiences of practical use cases of Combat LifeSaver.
