B-52 Stratofortress Carries Out Bombing Run In Iraq

In 2016 the US Air Force's B-52 Stratofortresses returned to the Middle East for the first time since the 1991 Gulf War and began obliterating Islamic State targets with deadly precision.


In April 2016, B-52s were deployed to al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar to replace the B-1 Lancer bombers that had finished their tour. In addition to supporting the fight against ISIS in Iraq, the aircraft also struck targets in Afghanistan.


Attached video from 2016 shows refueling operations as well as a precision strike on an ISIS weapons storage facility in Qayyarah, south of Mosul.
