Helmet cam footage released by Ukraine's Azov Battalion shows the engagement of a Russian BMP-2 with RPO-A Shmel rocket-assisted flamethrower in Mariupol. Azov reports the vehicle was damaged and the Russian crew members were killed.
The man-portable RPO-A Shmel rocket-assisted flamethrower launches a thermobaric warhead, essentially a miniature fuel air bomb, that is intended to be used against enemy troops in hardened fortifications in much the same way a flamethrower would be used. However, Mariupol has been surrounded for weeks and the Ukrainian troops are using what supplies and weapons they have available to them to carry on the fight.
