Footage released by the Syrian Defense Force shows a singular ATGM hitting one Turkish transport vehicle in Northern Syria on August 11, 2022. According to the SDF, 26 Turkish troops were killed in this attack.
For the record, I have no dog in the fight between the SDF and Turkey. That said, I'm leaning towards this being bad information from the SDF.
I don't see any world where this singular ATGM strike on a vehicle that looks like it was built for hauling logistics resulted in the deaths of 26 Turkish Soldiers. I could be wrong, it could have been loaded with troops in the compartment in the back, but I find that unlikely as Turkey is well aware of the ATGM threat and has been transporting their troops accordingly.
Turkey has yet to release a statement on this specific strike, so we'll wait until that information comes out before making any judgement calls on this one.
At the moment, regardless of what the SDF says, this is currently just an ATGM strike in Northern Syria against Turkish Forces which may have resulted in some Turkish casualties.
