An interesting clip released to the popular subreddit for combat footage shows a member of the Ukrainian armed forces triggering off what appears to be an SPG-9 with a 9v battery he has taped to the weapon's tripod.
So, I definitely won't sit here and act like I'm an expert on the SPG-9. I've never even seen one in person outside of displays at trade shows. That said, this seems pretty damn inventive to me. If any of you guys have experience with this weapon system, I'd love to know exactly how this works. I imagine it has something to do with using the battery charge to trigger the weapon system inside of the tube, but I have no clue.
Also, would this impact the range and accuracy of the weapon system? I don't think it would impact the accuracy that much, however it did impact the range that could cause the round to land short.
