Here's an updated look at the Egyptian military and its capabilities. Egypt was ranked 9th in world military powers in 2019, which is an increase over recent years.
Egypt is still reeling from the Arab Spring and shifts in government control, Islamic State militants have gained a foothold in the Sinai Peninsula. The Egyptian military does well to smash the terror group in offensive operations, only to lose all gains as soon as they pull back.
