Video recorded in the air during World War 2 captures the moment anti-aircraft fire rips through and brings down an American B-24 flying combat operations in Japanese controlled territory.
The video above was recorded during an anti-aircraft position bombing campaign conducted over the Palau Islands during World War 2. Out of the 10 crew members aboard the aircraft, 9 were killed in the crash. The exception, Navigator, 2nd Lt. Wallace F,. Kaufman, survived the crash, but was later executed by the Japanese.
In the past, rumors about this footage stated that the aircraft was brought down by another American aircraft errantly dropping a bomb on the B-24. This was in fact not the case.
