Al Shabaab Rings In New Year With US Precision Strikes (2021)

The US carried out twin airstrikes on ash Shabaab targets in Somalia on New Year's Day 2021, resulting in the deaths of three Shabaab militants, a fourth wounded, and the destruction of six headquarters buildings near the town of Qunyo Barrow.
In December 2020 an order to withdraw US troops from Somalia was put into place, and that directive is still being implemented. The troops will be dispersed among other US bases across Africa and will still carry out missions in Somalia.
