Government airstrikes are reportedly taking place in Ethiopia's northern state of Tigray after Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced military operations against the rival political party, Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), who ruled Ethiopia for 30 years prior to Ahmed's election.
The rapidly escalating conflict threatens to bring in other regional nations like Eritrea as well as global players. Based on history, wars in Ethiopia lead to severe famine and horrendous human rights violations. Ethiopia is also currently being ravaged by coronavirus, which is sure to make matters worse.
