A member of the Afghan Freedom Front tosses a hand grenade into what is allegedly a Taliban encampment outside of the city of Kandahar.
There's a few questions that come up when you watch this video. First, why don't we see the plume from the grenade rising over the wall after the detonation of the device. I don't have a solid answer for this other than the camera probably cut off just a little bit too soon, even then, that's not quite a good enough answer because we should have seen some dust kick up. This video could be fake, but regardless it's worth posting which brings us to our second question. Why is this video worth taking notice of? There's a really simple answer for that question.
Up until very recently, the only group in Afghanistan actively resisting Taliban rule were the NRF or National Resistance Front. This group was formerly known as the Northern Alliance and they were centered in the Panjshir Valley region of Afghansitan. This new group however, calling themselves the Afghan Freedom Front appears to be spinning up their own combat operations against Taliban rule, and they aren't limiting their operations to just one province.
I expect as the weather begins to warm up this year, we may have another solid fighting season in Afghanistan, and this time the Taliban will be on the receiving end of an insurgency.
