On May 1sts, a fresh Taliban offensive was kicked off that saw the Taliban taking large tracts of land from Afghan Security Forces. Now, in mid-May, we are seeing Afghan Security Forces fight back.
Baghlan-e-Markazi is a part of the capital city of the Baghlan province of Afghanistan. In the first week of May 2021, Taliban forces easily maneuvered through the city pushing back Afghan security forces in their entirety. In a few short weeks, the Taliban also took control of large parts of the rest of the country, including tracts of both the Farah and Helmand provinces of the country.
For a short period, we only saw Afghan forces retreating. Then, the Afghan National Air Force started releasing footage of them dropping bombs on the Taliban in those areas. Now, footage coming out of the area shows Afghan National Army Kandaks and Commando units flooding into these Taliban controlled regions with the intent of rooting the Taliban out of their new-found strongholds.
We wish those Afghan Soldiers and Commandos the best of luck. I sincerely hope that the God's of War stay on their side and keep them moving forward. We will continue to update you with footage from the most recent Taliban offensive happening in Afghanistan, so check back often.
