A Swing and A Miss: Russian Air Defense System Fires and Fails

This footage depicts a Ukrainian drone operator utilizing a FlyEye reconnaisance drone in the Donetsk region. The crew of a Russian Strela-10 notice and fire on the drone, but fail to bring it down. Presumably as a precaution against attack or kamikaze drones, one of the Russian crew is shown running away from the Strela-10.

The Strela-10 (NATO reporting name: Gopher) has been in service since 1976. It is visually aimed and intended for low-altitude targets such as helicopters. Its primary weapon, the 9M37 missile, has a maximum engagement range of 3 miles and maximum altitude of 11,500 feet.

The Ukrainian Fly Eye drone is a hand-launched, man-portable drone primarily used for surveillance and targeting for indirect fire. Its maximum altitude is around 13,100 feet and its flight time is around 2.5 hours.
