Troops in contact on the ground find themselves heavily outnumbered and outgunned. Then an A-10 shows up on the scene and swings the tide of battle.
If you've ever wondered what close air support looks and sounds like from the perspective of the person inside of the cockpit, this video is your answer. Throughout the gun runs, conducted by a supporting section of A-10 Thunderbolts, you can hear the troops on the ground calling in their reports to get the literal flying guns on target. You'll notice the tone in the radio operator's voice changes after the first time the A-10 tips in for a run.
This video was recorded over Tag Ab Valley Afghanistan back in 2008. We believe that the troops in contact on the ground were an ODA team, but we only have rumors to substantiate that.
