Members of the 45th Guards Spetsnaz Brigade find themselves in the middle of an ambush while conducting operations in Syria. The Spetsnaz added this music, not us.
Well, I think it's official. You have not participated in the Global War on Terror until you've released video of your platoon in a firefight with heavy metal music overlapping the audio of your platoon shooting at a group of insurgents far outside of your GoPro's field of view. Russia has officially joined the club of warfighters who have been fighting Jihadists. I'm not too sure what this song is titled though, maybe Let the Blyaties hit the floor. If anyone knows, please leave a link down in the comments. It's kind of a banger.
For context, this footage shows members of the 45th Guards Spetsnaz Brigade in contact somewhere in Syria. The exact location the footage was recorded is unknown, as is the time of the recording. The Russian MoD has not released that information to the public yet, so there's a chance these guys might still be down-range in Syria doing work.
That said, the 45th Guards are a special operations unit that was created for special operations reconnaissance missions. They were founded in 1994, with the special mission tasking and specialization of Counter-Insurgency operations. More specifically, the unit was founded as a direct response to Russian military short-comings during their invasion of Afghanistan.
