Four Russian military aircraft including two fighter jets and two helicopters were shot down nearly simultaneously over the Bryansk region of Russia, northeast of the Ukrainian capital city of Kiev on May 13, 2023.
The aircraft were identified as an Su-34 fighter-bomber, Su-35 fighter, and two Mi-8 helicopters. The aircraft were reportedly part of the same strike package about to conduct a sortie into the Chernihiv region of Ukraine.
It's not clear if the aircraft were brought down by Ukrainian air defense missiles or if a miscommunication amongst Russian air defense units resulted in friendly fire.
