An official release by the Russian Ministry of Defense shows an artillery crew manning 2S4 Tyulpan 240mm self-propelled mortar systems. The systems are allegedly being effectively used to target Ukrainian positions on an unnamed front-line.
The 2S4 Tyulpan, NATO designation M-1975, is a Cold War era self-propelled heavy mortar system developed in the 1970s to provide long-range indirect fire support to Russian ground forces. With a maximum effective range of roughly 12.4 miles, and a crew of five, including the commander, gunner, loader, and driver, the system is a highly capable mobile indirect fire support platform for Russian forces.
It's worth noting that production on these systems ended in 1988.
