15 Minutes of Reconnaissance Operations in Luhansk

Fifteen minutes of reconnaissance operations recorded on the GoPro of a member of the 12th Azov Brigade captures combat operations in the rough swamp-like terrain of Luhansk along the Siverskyi Donets river. While drones have become a dominate force in the game of battlefield reconnaissance, this footage proves that traditional recon work done by troops on the deck still has extreme value as a skillset. As with anything related to evolutions in combat, new systems do not automatically mean that old systems and mindsets become irrelevant. While horse-mounted cavalry charges largely left the battlefield with the introduction of the machine gun, horses themselves were still largely used for warfighting through the second World War, and were even recently used during Operation Enduring Freedom, with some units using donkeys and horses to move logistics through the difficult terrain of Northern Afghanistan. Moral of the story is this. Never lose your old skillsets just because a piece of technology comes along as an alternative.
